Roy’s Woodwright Books are informed by a lifetime of experience and study. He offers instruction in these techniques at The Woodwright’s School in Pittsboro, North Carolina. The longtime master housewright at Colonial Williamsburg, Roy is the leading authority on old-time woodworking techniques. Underhill returned East a few years later to further develop his woodworking knowledge, and studied colonial American technology at Duke University in Durham, N.C. He is very good at his craft, but his work is not for the weak of back or intentions. Roy had/has a program on PBS where he builds items using tools that were in use during colonial America. Roy has inspired millions to “just say no to power tools” through his continuing work as a historian, craftsman, activist, and teacher.
